The Simple Woman's Daybook- 8/22/16

For Today

Looking out my window...All is dark now as it is after 9pm. I am always a little sad when the days start getting shorter.

I am thinking...it has been way too long since I have posted to my blog...so many things have changed since I have last posted!

I am thankful...for our beautiful new home and property that we were able to purchase earlier this year. God is so good!

One of my favorite things...is having 2 acres to dream and plan with. The possibilities are so exciting!

I am wearing...jeans, a green tank top and socks.

I am creating...This summer I took a weaving class to learn how to use my new loom. I am so excited to start making a rug soon! My first project at the class was placemats. I have had so much fun and can see myself enjoying weaving for many years to come.
I am reading... Dr. Dobson's book Bringing Up Girls. Only a few chapters in, but I am already learning so much. Also, my girls and I just finished a summer of reading around the world with Give Your Child the World by Jamie Martin. An excellent resource and we have enjoyed reading and learning about cultures all around the world.
I am hoping...that I can get out of bed earlier tomorrow...I have a horrible habit of hitting the snooze.

I am learning...how to train our dog...yes, we got a dog! He has been a great addition to our family. But puppies are a LOT of work!

In my kitchen...tonight we had beans and cornbread. Simple but delicious!

In the school room...we are slowly easing back into our routine for homeschool. Friday we got our record notebooks ready to go so hopefully I will be more on top of record keeping this year. We officially start into our curriculum after Labor Day so for now we are doing lots of fun math games and hands on learning activities. Our big fun project today was picking and drying herbs and learning some things we can do with herbs.

In my garden...things didn't do so great this year. I got a late start because of moving into a new place, and then we had the worst case of earwigs I have ever seen! There were hundreds and thousands EVERYWHERE. On everything! Ewwww! We do have kale and a few tomatoes and a yellow squash plant that survived the munching earwigs.

Closing Notes:
Thank you for taking time to spend a moment with me here at Ripples of Grace. I will be writing more again soon and sharing more about all the new changes that have gone on with us over the past year. I hope you'll come back! And be sure to check out The Simple Woman's Daybook and create your own daybook to share.
Blessings!
