Weekly Happenings

So, trying something new again here.
I thought it would be fun to share a few pics and update on what we did this week. The plan is to do this every week, but, well, you know how good I am at posting on my blog. Ha!
Anyway, here's a bit of what we did this week. We've been having unbelievably nice weather for December, so we've been spending lots of time outside. LOVE it!

The beginning of the week we got out our tree and did some decorating for Christmas. We have a small fake tree that we had for our small Oregon home. Last year we went with a real tree which was amazing, but decided to be lazy and just use our fake one this year. Since it's so small, there's not really room for everything on it so we decided to put up a string on a bare patch of wall to hang all of the cute ornaments the girls have made over the years. I love how it turned out, and the girls like that all their work is on display.

Ellie is our little artist and was messing around with our dry erase boards one day and came up with this. She has been working hard on writing her letters and asked her sister to help her spell "Merry Christmas". Then she added a reindeer (Rudolph to be exact) and a tree.

The girls also helped me make our favorite peppermint fudge this week. They love to be in the kitchen learning how to make things. You can find the recipe for our fudge here.

Since the weather was super nice all week, we hurried to get our school work done in the mornings so we could spend the afternoons outside. We took a walk or bike ride almost everyday.

We had fun checking out the plants and how they look this time of year, and also just enjoying the scenery. The sky has been so amazingly blue!

On one of our walks we gathered a bunch of sticks for making rustic stars. I can't take full credit for it as I saw something similar on Pinterest. But we certainly had fun making them our own.

Hannah came up with the idea to make hers into a snowflake instead. She did a fabulous job! And of course I somehow don't have a picture of the finished product. *sigh*

Ellie had to have a little help, but she did great too!

It was great to sit out in the yard in our t-shirts and soak up the sunshine while we worked!

This next week is looking like it's going to be a fun one too...
Working on Christmas presents, making "crystal" snowflakes, maybe some ice skating, and then going to the Nutcracker ballet with Nana!

Hope you all have a blessed week! Be sure to check back in case I follow through with another post! LOL!

Blessings!

Hello, again!

My how time flies! I blinked and Summer flew by. We were so busy going places and doing things, that I barely had time to think. Now it's Fall and things are settling down a little bit and we are getting back into a more "normal" routine.
Today we took a drive up through the mountains hoping to find a bit of the beautiful aspen colors left. We missed the peak of it, but did see a little bit. And it was the perfect day for a drive even without the Fall colors. We got to explore some parts of Colorado we haven't seen yet, and it was incredible! There are so many, many beautiful areas in our wonderful state!
Estes Park: Only an hour from our house, so we come here quite a bit. But it never gets old. The mountains are just spectacular!

Lily Lake

St. Malo Church

Some color left along the way.

Beautiful aspens!

Central City: A little, old mining town. Now pretty much one casino after another. It's still fun to drive through and see all the old buildings.

We also got to take a couple family pics. It's hard to get everyone to cooperate, so we only do this once or, if I'm lucky, twice a year.

All 5 of us...it would have been nice to have coordinating outfits, but you know...at least I got them all in the picture and smiling. Maybe next year....

Me and my love

The kiddos...love them!

Father and son.

Mother and daughters.
It was a great day spent enjoying beautiful country and special family time. A great way to get into this new season. And hopefully, you'll be hearing more from me soon. I do have ever so much I'd like to write about. I just haven't had ever so much time to do it.

Blessings!

Baby goat playdate

The girls and I had a fun afternoon today. We got to play with baby goats! It doesn't get much better than that. I'm not "kid"ding. (Yes, that was lame, but you know you laughed. Even if it was inside. *smile*)
My husband is an NRA instructor and teaches classes around our area. At one of his classes about a month ago he met a really nice couple who have a goat farm. He was telling them how much we love goats and they said that we could come out and visit after the babies are born!
So today was that day! I think I fell in love with goats just a little bit more...if that is possible. Baby goats  have got be some of the cutest creatures...EVER!
They are so entertaining the way they hop around and run and skip and butt each other. They have such personalities and are just plain cute!
I took a lot of pictures, because, well, who wouldn't? The only problem was I couldn't decide which ones to share, but I'm sure you can forgive this enormous post of goat pictures because of the cuteness involved.
The girls were in their element on the farm.

These little guys were nibbling us to pieces! Adorable!

Cuteness!

Happy day!

Sweet babies

Hannah my farm girl

My little kid with some kids

The goats loved jumping up on this thing. One of the mamas got involved once and hopped up and started butting the babies off! They love playing king of the hill!

"Can we keep one pleeeeaaaase????"

Little climbers

The two most unique goaties in the whole herd.

My future goat farmer

See what I mean about nibbling??? They would find any part of us they could get their mouths on and start nibbling.

Blessings!

Catching up...

Well, this portrait a week thing isn't going like I planned. I do have pictures (which happened more by accident), but haven't gotten around to posting since the first time. Hopefully this gets better. Maybe I'd be better doing a picture a month! Or maybe I should just stick with the annual Christmas picture! LOL!
Anyway, here's the next 3 weeks worth of pictures.

Week 3

Ellie dressed up in Daddy's referee gear. The cutest ref ever! :) (January 29th, 2014)

Hannah, the "tough ref". (January 29th, 2014)
Week 4

I didn't get separate ones of them this week, but at least go this one. My cute little Bronco fans. They were so excited to wear their Bronco shirts that Daddy got them. Unfortunately, the Super Bowl wasn't nearly as exciting. (February 2, 2014)
 Week 5

Ellie giving me one of her silly grins. I just love the expressions that little girl makes! (February 9, 2014)

Ellie took this picture of Hannah this morning. Still in  her jammies and bed head, I just love this one! She is so intent on reading...or playing on Daddy's phone. :) (February 9, 2014)
